This is likely the finest restoration of a loft building in all Downtown: There are 52 breathtaking Great Northern lofts with soaring barrel-vault ceilings (19’ to 21’) with exposed brick and clay tiles & dramatic expanses of windows. The lofts have views of Downtown & the Great Northern Lofts’ private courtyard. The project (2003-2006) included a detailed exterior restoration of the 1880 classic Richardsonian Romanesque building, which was once James J. Hill’s railroad office building.
Great Northern Lofts are located in the heart of St. Paul’s Lowertown artistic community – one block from the Farmer’s Market & near the Mississippi River.
